For all families with ADD/ADHD issues on July 01, 2010 by ADHD Mom from East Coast

  • Pros: Very on-topic, keeps articles to the point
  • Cons: Sometimes over-simplifies

ADDitude magazine is aimed at ADD adults and families - whether the child/children have ADD/ADHD, or the parents also have it, or just one spouse. There are articles on ADD/ADHD kids and school or friends, and articles on ADD/ADHD marriages where one or both partners have ADD. All issues are covered, from the struggle of a non-ADD spouse to keep from parenting (or strangling) an ADD spouse, to ADD parents trying to teach ADHD kids how to organize when you don't have a clue yourself. As a mother of two ADHD boys and a wife to an ADHD husband, who doesn't have the condition myself, I sometimes feel like the warden at the asylum! ADDitude helps me realize I'm not alone, helps me understand how my family thinks and why they do the things that drive me crazy. It gives me concrete ideas of how to help my sons with school and friendship issues, and more importantly, explains why they have these issues in the first place. It reminds me that my husband isn't deliberately trying to drive me crazy, and reminds him of behaviors that do. Very balanced and practical, and the online community is great!

ADDitude on November 10, 2009 by mom of 4 from notheast

  • Pros: very informative
  • Cons: none

We had to fight our school board to acknowledge ADHD and help our son and later daughter. ADDitude magazine steered us in the right direction and helped us win our fight.
