Eating Well doesn't come often enough on June 27, 2010 by Cookingest from U.S.

  • Pros: pretty great magazine
  • Cons: doesn't come very often; have to call to get issue due

EatingWell magazine arrives at my house every 2-3 months. I often have to call and tell them to send the issue I am due. Great magazine otherwise- but you wouldn't know it if it isn't delivered.

Fresh Ingredients on July 26, 2009 by KKP from USA

  • Pros: very healthful approach to eating
  • Cons: most recipies take time

Great for everyone! on October 10, 2008 by ImKatWoman from Metro-Detroit, MI

  • Pros: Great variety of dishes, seasonal foods featured, introduction to easy ethnic recipes, All Healthy!
  • Cons: Some ingredients might require a visit to a specialty or ethnic market

I'm a college student, and I'm learning to cook (and eat healthy, I've lost 42 lbs in the past 10 months, mostly through healthy eating habits). The variety of recipes in this magazine is wonderful! My first issue I found at least 10 recipes I marked to try out. I made dinner for my parents and boyfriend, it was a Middle Eastern dish. I though it would be fun to try something different, and everyone really enjoyed it! As a newer cook, I found the recipes very easy to follow. Some of the tips were helpful, too (like rinsing canned beans or veggies before cooking in order to reduce sodium content). I'm a huge fan of this magazine because the recipes are tasty (some are even restaurant quality), but most are still easy and relatively quick to prepare (as a student who works part-time, the less Prep Time, the better!!). The best part about this magazine is that it's all healthy recipes and dishes, but doesn't lack ANY taste! Some of the ingredients may be harder to find, you may have to go to a specialty market or ethnic market, but 95% of the ingredients I'm able to find in my local supermarket (I'm in a Suburban area). There is a symbol key in the front, which indicates recipes that are Heart Healthy, Low Sodium, High Fiber, Low Cal, etc. This is great if you have diet restrictions, and in general most of the recipes are pretty healthy if you stick to the (reasonable) portions.
