types of articles on June 21, 2008 by catwig from Long Island, NY

  • Pros: Great articles and the right length.
  • Cons: i would like to see more articles about our service men and about the good that is being done in the Military.

I have always enjoyed RD. My father always subscribed and gave it to us as a gift and my father ion law subscribes. We have two grown sons in the military and one is in the Navy, aboard submarines. When he is gone for three months at a time I try to cut out your humor in uniform and include one in each letter i send him. Our youngest son is in the Army and going for his Masters so he can become a Chaplain in the Army. He is gone all summer training with the Army and I will be sending some of these to him. My only suggestion is to see more articles about our service men and also my husband and I have spent the last 16 years being care takers for our parents and grandparents. We are currently caring for my in laws. My father in law has cancer and my mother in law is blind. It would be good to see articles about care taking of parents. Keep up the good work. i look forward to seeing RD in the mail box each month.

ABOUT READER'S DIGEST - LARGE PRINT EDITION

The first issue of Reader's Digest was published in 1922 by a World War I veteran and his wife. In 1929, it was first put on newsstands and in August of 2005 published the 1000th U.S. issue. A typical edition consists of a survival story, a medical article, an achievement story, stories on human relations, several articles offering advice and a politically focused article. Reader's Digest tends to present a conservative, pro-American view. Also standard in each issue are comics, jokes, and puzzles. The richness and diversity of the Reader's Digest Magazine makes it one of America's great general interest publications. Reader's Digest is also available in a regular print edition.
