The New Yorker on July 01, 2010 by Pumpkin from U.S.

I've been reading the New Yorker magazine off and on since I was 9 years old. In my opinion, it is one of the best magazines on the market. All the articles are well written and, most importantly, fact checked. They cover a wide range of stories so there are articles of interest for everyone.

Best all-around magazine out there on March 20, 2010 by tintintoo from New York City

  • Pros: Thoughtful non-fiction
  • Cons: Fiction and poetry generally rather predictable

The New Yorker magazine is the one magazine I have subscribed to for years. It is indispensable for both New Yorkers and those living elsewhere. It's the one magazine that has long and more in-depth pieces on politics, art and culture, and events going on in New York City.

Don't Let the Name Fool You on December 07, 2008 by Vic Stone from Augusta, Ga.

  • Pros: Well written. Varied. In-depth. Funny.
  • Cons: Too hard to put down.

My Father subscribed to The New Yorker when I was a kid. It was fun trying to figure out what the cover and cartoons meant. As an adult I didn't pay attention to it for years. When it went online I read some articles that knocked my socks off so I subscribed to the hard copy and am so glad that I did. I always read the political and financial collumns and articles. They are in-depth and put the weekly news and financial magazines to shame. Then there is stuff like building the world's longest tunnel right through the Swiss Alps that I never dreamed would interest me. I limit myself to reading three or four articles a week. I'm sure the fiction is great but I just don't have time. Of course not living near NYC I don't read the local happenings. Yes...the covers and cartoons are still wonderful.

Worth every penny, on September 29, 2008 by Kate from Brooklyn ,Ny

  • Pros: Great Humor
  • Cons: difficult great humor.

I love the New yorker, I've been a subscriber for 6 years. I love it. I love how it adds humor and satires to serious issues with brilliant stories written by brilliant people. It gives me a good laugh everytime i read it, but the jokes are more for the adult mind, it will take a while for a teenager or a child to understand the humor.
